Who is Care UK?

Care UK is the UK’s largest independent provider of NHS services, dedicated to offering high-quality care to both NHS and privately-funded patients – even those without health insurance – across the country.

Our vision

Care UK was founded in 1982 and is now considered to be one of the country’s leading providers of NHS services.

We have achieved this by making sure that patients are at the heart of everything we do. The quality of our healthcare services, dedication of our people and an innovative approach to delivering patient-centred care is what we think sets us apart.

Supporting the NHS

The UK has a long and proud tradition of free and fair access to high quality healthcare services, delivered in part through independent sector providers, like us, who work in close partnership with the NHS.

We run high quality healthcare services on behalf of the NHS to help reduce waiting times and give patients a greater level of choice. Surgery at one of our hospitals is still free to patients who choose to access NHS-funded treatment with us.

Working with a range of partners enables the NHS to ensure that patients are treated quickly and professionally, in a location and at a time that they choose.

High-quality care

Care UK hospitals, or NHS treatment centres, as they are often called, provide prompt assessment, diagnosis and treatment to over 80,000 patients each year. We use the same governance and accountability procedures and standards as the NHS, so patients can rest assured that they will be well looked after.

Our colleagues are passionate about creating an exceptional experience for patients, and we are dedicated to delivering the highest standards of quality and safety. What’s more, because our hospitals don’t deal with emergency cases, the NHS patients who use our services know they’ll get the treatment they were expecting, on the day they were expecting it. The risk of hospital acquired infection is significantly lower too.

That’s why the NHS trusts us to care for you.

Choose your path

We are proud to provide fast access to free, high quality NHS healthcare, but sometimes patients choose to pay for their own treatment as opposed to accessing it via the NHS. This might be because the procedure they need is not available to them on the usual NHS pathway, they prefer to avoid waiting to be referred for NHS-funded surgery, or simply want to take full control of when and where they undergo treatment.

Our hospitals offer a wide range of self pay treatments with unrivalled, transparent prices and flexible payment options, including an interest-free finance solution. Whether you’re an NHS-funded patient of paying for yourself, we’ll make sure you’re looked after.

 COVID-19 (coronavirus) alert

We continue to support NHS England during the Coronavirus crisis by providing the additional capacity it needs to treat non COVID-19 patients, but are now planning a gradual return to treating our own elective patients.
